Olivo and Mestach on course for back-to-back titlesAfter capturing last week’s Copa del Café, Renzo Olivo and An Sophie Mestach are well on their way to capturing yet another Grade 1 title at the Copa Gatorade in Venezuela. In Olivo had to battle through some tough matches to reach the quarterfinals, whereas Mestach lost only an average of below 4 games in her first two matches. Top seeds Mate Zsiga and Veronica Cepede-Royg also still remain in the tournament.

Top boys seeds fall at first hurdle

Mina falls at first hurdle in TraralgonBoys 1st seed Gianni Mina (photo,right) and 2nd seed Mitchell Frank both surprisingly lost their first round matches at the Traralgon International. Frenchman Mina was upset by American Nick Chappell, while Frank tumbled out of the tournament at the hands of Aussie James Duckworth. The highest remaining seed in the tournament is now 3rd seeded Taiwanese Liang-Chi Huang. In the girls tournament both top seeds survived the first round, but both Timea Babos and Daria Gavrilova had to work hard to make this happen.
