Robson breaks up Pliskova twins |

 British prodigy Laura Robson easily prevented a final at the Australian Open Junior tournament between the Pliskova twins. Robson easily beat Karolina, 6-3 6-1. 6th seeded Kristyna only barely escaped Chinese 15-year old Hao Chen Tang, saving one matchpoint in the tie-break in the second set and then go on to win 6-2 in the final set. The boys final will be an encounter between two surprising players, recently converted Australian Sean Berman and 14th seeded Brazilian Tiago Fernandes. Berman defeated 6th seed Marton Fucsovics, while Fernandes survived a second set tie-break to defeat 2nd seeded Frenchman Gianni Mina. |

Pliskova twins take out top seeds |

 A final between twin sisters Kristyna and Karolina Pliskova still remains on the cards with both girls reaching the semifinals. Kristyna managed to defeat top seed Timea Babos, whereas Karolina defeated 3rd seeded Russian Daria Gavrilova. British phenomenon Laura Robson and Chinese Hao Chen Tang are now the only remaing threats to a "sister act" final. Robson easily crushed the hopes of American Ester Goldfeld, while Tang just edged 5th seeded Croatian Silvia Njiric. |

Mitchell crushes Berta hopes |

 Aussie Benjamin Mitchell showed that his title hopes are for real, only leaving boys top seed Daniel Berta (photo, right) with only 3 games to show for efforts. 3rd seed Jason Kubler also joined Berta on the sidelines, after having been beaten by Aussie wildcard Sean Berman. 4th seed Mitchell Frank was also upset, by 14th seeded Brazilian Tiago Fernandes. And a day of upsets was finally completed by Suk-Young Jeong, who took out 9th seeded Slovakian Filip Horansky with great ease. Only 2nd seed Gianni Mina managed to keep his hopes alive after a first set scare against 13th seed Arthur de Greef. |
