Berta and Mladenovic on course at European Juniors |

Roland Garros Junior winners Daniel Berta and Kristina Mladenovic had very few problems on their way into the fourth round of the European Junior Championships. 2nd seeds Gianni Mina and Timea Babos also made it into the next round in straight sets. The only major upset in the entire tournament was the loss of 3rd seeded Croatian Silvia Njiric to German Sina Haas, Njiric only managed to capture three games. 8th seeded Slovakian Jana Cepelova also tumbled out of the tournament.

Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov played a solid match against Argentinian Guillermo Cañas, but fell just short of beating his opponent. Roland Garros Junior winner Daniel Berta didn’t have much chance against German Bjorn Phau on his debut in the main draw of an ATP tournament. Spaniard Steven Diez was the only eligible Junior to win a futures title this week, defeating 3rd seed David Canudas-Fernandez in the final. Junior world Champion Tsung-Hua Yang also came close to capturing a futures title in the Korea Republic, but was handsomely beaten by compatriot Ti Chen in the final. |

Putintseva and Laaksonen show who’s boss in Linz |

Finn Henri Laaksonen grabbed his ultimate chance to grab his first Grade 1 title with both hands, by defeating unseeded Frenchman Mick Lescure in the final of the Linz Junior tournament. The girls final was won by 14-year old Russian Yulia Putintseva, who already her second Grade 1 title this year. Putintseva defeated first time Grade 1 finalist Elina Svitolina of the Ukraine. |
