And then there were 3, on both sides. Mexican Cesar Ramirez was one of the 2 seeds that went out of the third round of the Roehampton tournament. With 7th seed Cedrik-Marcel Stebe also going out, only 3 seeded players remain, 8th seed Alexei Grigorov is the highest. The girls tournament continued among the same road as the boys, also losing 2 more seeds, 6th seed Johanna Konta and 7th seed Jessy Rompies. Top seed Melanie Oudin continued her strong run with an easy win.
Last week’s winner at the Gerry Weber Junior Open, Frenchman Guillaume Rufin, gained himself another easy victory into the quarterfinals, extending his winning streak on grass to 8 matches. Also 2 British players remain in boys draw, Daniel Cox and Daniel Smethurst. The girls tournament is doing even better when it comes to home interest, with a total of 3 British players in the quarterfinals. Especially 14-year old Laura Robson will be turning some heads, with Heather Watson, at only 16, closely behind. The challenge of the winner of last week at the Gerry Weber Junior Open, Kristina Mladenovic of France, also continues and she will face a real test in 4th seed Elena Bogdan.
